INSV TARINI SAILS OUT FOR NAVIKA SAGAR PARIKRAMA II


On October 2, 2024, the Indian Naval Sailing Vessel (INSV) Tarini embarked on the Navika Sagar Parikrama II expedition, a significant and historic voyage aimed at circumnavigating the globe. This expedition features two brave female officers from the Indian Navy, Lieutenant Commander Roopa A and Lieutenant Commander Dilna K, who are determined to become the first Indian duo to successfully sail around the world in double-handed mode.

The Navika Sagar Parikrama II journey covers an impressive distance of over 21,600 nautical miles (approximately 40,000 kilometers) and is divided into five legs. The route includes:

Goa to Fremantle, Australia

Fremantle to Lyttleton, New Zealand

Lyttleton to Port Stanley, Falkland Islands

Port Stanley to Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town back to Goa

The expedition is not just a pursuit of adventure; it stands as a testament to India’s commitment to empowerment and strengthening its maritime presence on a global scale.
